Indiana, one of the north central United States, is bounded on the north by Michigan and Lake Michigan; on the east by Ohio; on the south by Kentucky, from which it is separated by the Ohio River; and on the west by Illinois. It lies between about 37º 47′ and 41º 46′ north latitude, and between 84º 49′ and 88º 6′ west longitude. The state extends about 250 miles from north to south and about 145 miles from east to west. It contains approximately 36,420 square miles, or 23,308,800 acres.
This state project is part of the much larger American History & Genealogy Project or better known by the abbreviation of AHGP.
