This is the decennial census for Harrison County Indiana for the year of 1820. The 1820 United States Federal Census was the fourth national enumeration, conducted between March 14, 1820, and September 1, 1821. Covering 23 states and territories, it recorded nearly 10 million people during a period of westward migration and national growth. The census named only heads of households, with other members enumerated by age, sex, and status (free white, free people of color, or enslaved). It also included categories for foreigners not naturalized and for individuals engaged in agriculture, commerce, or manufacturing.
The Harrison County Indiana census runs from page 41 on the microfilm to page 74, for a total of 33 pages. Each page of the census is listed below separately. The column headers are abbreviated to make the total table width smaller, but the full column headers are provided at the bottom of this page. On each page there were no line numbers listed, so the line number provided represents the lines in order.
