New Mexico, one of the southwestern United States, is bounded on the north by Colorado; on the east by Oklahoma and Texas; on the south by Texas and Mexico (Chihuahua and Sonora); and on the west by Arizona. It lies between about 31º 20′ and 37º north latitude, and between 103º and 109º 3′ west longitude. The state measures about 370 miles from north to south and about 340 miles from east to west. It contains approximately 121,590 square miles, or 77,817,600 acres.
This state project is part of the much larger American History & Genealogy Project or better known by the abbreviation of AHGP.
