Oklahoma, one of the south-central states of the United States, is bounded on the north by Kansas and Colorado; on the east by Missouri and Arkansas; on the south by Texas; and on the west by Texas and New Mexico. It lies between approximately 33º 37′ and 37º north latitude, and between 94º 26′ and 103º west longitude. The state stretches about 320 miles from east to west and about 230 miles from north to south. It comprises roughly 69,899 square miles, or 44,735,360 acres.
This state project is part of the much larger American History & Genealogy Project or better known by the abbreviation of AHGP. It has been in existence online since 2000 and over the years has been spread out across the web. These pages are an attempt to consolidate it under one website of the larger project.

The following county projects have been built on the web over the years and hold a different variety of history and genealogy information on each one.

Original Oklahoma Counties
In the early days, seven counties were outlined and were designated as the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Counties.
The first seven counties were Logan , Cleveland, Oklahoma, Canadian, Kingfisher, Payne, and Beaver.
As other counties were added, they were designated by letters of the alphabet. Finally, all counties were given names

“N” Woodward County
“O” Garfield County
“P” Noble County
“Q” Pawnee County.
