State of Oregon - McMinnville,
Yamhill County
McMinnville, Yamhill County, PO 5 miles
south west of Lafayette, is a town of 500 inhabitants,
on the south fork of the Yamhill River, which in seasons
of high water is navigable to this place. This is in the
heart of a rich agricultural section, included within
the forks of the Yamhill, and the surrounding country
presents one of the most lovely landscapes the eye ever
rested upon. Among the manufacturing establishments are
two flouring mills, whose products have obtained a high
reputation. There are four churches, a public school,
Masonic, Odd Fellows and Grangers halls, and the
McMinnville College and Academy, an institution of
learning of high repute. One newspaper, the Yamhill
County Reporter, is published weekly.
