Haywood, Alameda
County California

Haywood (or Hayward's), Alameda County, PO 15
miles southeast of Oakland, and ¾ of a mile from San Lorenzo
station, on the Central Pacific Railroad, is a small village,
occupying one of the most pleasant sites of the lovely section
in which it is situated.
Being at the base of the Contra Costa hills, where a small gap
opens to an interior valley, with a broad plain in front gently
sloping to the water of the magnificent Bay of ban Francisco, it
presents a landscape view of exceeding beauty. The surrounding
country is of great fertility, and well cultivated, and its
convenience of access to San Francisco gives it peculiar
advantages for prosperity.
